Jennifer Reyna tells Houstonians how long a commute will take, where the traffic jams are and suggests alternate routes weekdays on KPRC Local 2 News at 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. and during the "TODAY Show" from 7 to 9 a.m.
Jennifer comes to KPRC from KABC-TV in Los Angeles, where she worked on "Eye on LA" and "Vista LA." Before moving to the west coast, Jennifer was an on-air radio personality on the "Outlaw Dave Show" on Houston's Rock 101 KLOL.
Jennifer has stepped back into radio by teaming up with KSBJ 89.3 FM. Her traffic reports can be heard there Monday through Friday between 5:30 and 9 a.m.
After her morning traffic reports, Jennifer goes onto the streets to report on newsworthy topics to help keep viewers informed.
"I love my job," she said. "Waking up every day, knowing that I have an important responsibility to report traffic accurately and hopefully save people time and a headache. It's really a dream come true. Now that I am also able to bring important information to the viewers in the form of reports, there is an increased sense of urgency to exceed expectations every day."
Jennifer enjoys being active in the community. One of her most touching experiences was during Hurricane Ike when she worked in the Neighbor 2 Neighbor call center, where she acted as a source of comfort for callers, helped residents find ice and water and helped the community get back on its feet. She likes to speak at school banquets, help out with toy drives and emcee local events. She is a proud member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.
Her goal is simple -- to make a real difference in the lives of others. She most enjoys making people smile.
Prior to a career in the public eye, Jennifer attended the University of Texas at Austin. She later returned to Houston to earn degrees in finance and marketing at the University of Houston.
In her free time, Jennifer spends time with her family and enjoys hanging out with friends. She is a huge fan of comedy (standup or a movie) and attends cultural performances on occasion. She also tries to find time for continued learning, whether it's picking up a non-fiction book or traveling abroad.
Jennifer welcomes viewers to check out her Bumper to Bumper blog. She can always be reached via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. She welcomes feedback, story ideas and support.
